This is one of three photographs taken in series of a Humpback mother resting in a head down veritical position. Austin and the MMCTA team spent over an hour observing this Humpback Whale mother and her calf. They named the mother “Yoga Mom” as she would repeatedly swim next to the team before inverting into a vertical posture with her fluke partially out of the water. She would then slowly rotate around in a vertical position while her calf patiently waited for an opportunity to nurse.
